This blog is for Mary Ellen.  I met Mary Ellen when I was the keynote speaker at the Society of Talent & Entertainment Professionals (STEP) Annual Conference.  She reminds me a lot of so many of my clients.  She works at The Sparks Agency, a talent booking agency, where she helps manage client expectations, run the office, help with event details to help her boss, and now she’s President of STEP.  Saying that Mary Ellen is busy at work is a ridiculous understatement, but very common.

I have never had a client say, “Angela, I have an unlimited amount of time to work on internet marketing.”  Mostly they say, “Angela, I know internet marketing is important, but I have actual work to do.”

Mary Ellen is not a novice at social media. She’s on FaceBook, she posts the daily holiday on Twitter, she’s on LinkedIN and after attending my session, she’s now on Google +.  However, being on social media channels and understanding how to use them to engage with her clients is the challenge she thinks of every time the subject of internet marketing comes to mind.

For the last several years, I have been speaking at conferences and workshops to teach business owners and people interested in improving their marketing skills about the practical ways to make improvement in their internet marketing efforts.  This blog is going to be dedicated to the Mary Ellen’s of the world and anyone else that feels they are somewhere between novice and ninja in internet marketing.

There’s no such thing as perfection, we strive for progress.  Start slowly and celebrate progress. I am here to cheer you on.
